Greetings from South America

Last month I had the opportunity to travel to Uruguay and Argentina ... and I loved loved loved the the streets full of art! There were murals everywhere. I can't wait to start getting my hands full of paint!!!

Here is a very short list of some of the murals I photographed. Aren't they great?

The Bull! This mural is inside an abandoned building.... well.... actually was the first bull rink in South America. The building was used once and then they shut it down because it was illegal to kill bulls. The space is amazing - I will have to do a whole different blog on this building! I had to crawl under a fence in order to get inside the structure. Amazing. (Colonia, Uruguay)

This one is in Viedma, Argentina. I like how they used an old pipe for the straw.

This one was a Collective Mural remembering the past - Patagonia, Argentina

You can always use the building and improvise - take the old crack, add on to the structure, and create 3D mural. This building is an Art School and Library. (Viedma, Argentina)

How can you go wrong with the Beatles? There were walls and walls of murals dedicated to their music. Cipolletti, Argentina

Yellow and Blue in Argentina.... .that means they cheering for Boca Jr. - Here we are a few blocks away from the Boca Jr. Stadium. La Boca, Buenos Aires, Argentina

I guess the coast of Viedma, Argentina  is entirely beautified - this is an old ship just sitting on the coast.

Yup. We are back in Argentina. The Sun of May being all mighty. Buenos Aires.

I found this one very sweet. A mural on a very old building in the middle of Colonia, Uruguay. It's a collective mural, part of 2 others.

I could go on and on.... but at least you get to see a little portion of what I saw.
I am ready to beautify South Tucson and I will need your help!!

The making of the Indiegogo video

I had a blast with 'Melo' Dominguez this weekend - we did the video introducing ourselves and we talked about the project. Now we need to start collecting money and items for this project.

We did it several times.... and at the end I was able to use very few clips - the wind was louder than us!
... see... if you are a filmmaker... or love to do films, you could help us on that! We promise to give you credit and show it off to the entire world! =)
It's going to be a fun project and very deserving of a possible documentary.

The Indiegogo will be up soon. If you cannot make a cash donation, we are gladly to get help with materials. This is the list:

Talk about money and coffee

Today Mel and I met with Safos' Director Yvonne - We have the costs for the paint..... and it's was an eye opening (not just Mel's coffee).
We are getting ready to do an online fundraiser. More on that next week!!!

We will need paint (obviously), pellon, sealant, glue, brushes, and more brushes - because I am expecting all of you to come and paint!

Do you want to help?
There are many ways:
- making a monitary donation: MONEY (so we can buy the correct paint/sealant/glue)
- donate brushes (all sizes!)
- pellon (thin one)
- plastic table cloths
- aprons (all sizes so YOU won't get paint on your clothes)
- printing (fake tattoos, postcards, tshirts, cards)
- PAINTING!! We will need YOU to help us paint.

We have a wall!

This week Yvonne and I met with the Board of Directors at House of Neighborly Service in South Tucson.  We presented our ideas and designs and they loved it!

I hope you like the wall as much as we do. .... but I bet you'll love it much more once we are done with it.
